St. Edmond's Home

Admissions

Children are admitted to St. Edmond's Home through a referral from their County Office of Mental Retardation, and each application is evaluated on an individual basis. Families are encouraged to visit the facility before applying on behalf of a child, and both the family and child are asked to participate in a pre-evaluation meeting as part of the application process. It is the policy of St. Edmond's Home for Children to admit, treat and care for all individuals without regard to religion, color, sex, age or national origin. Anyone interested in admissions, please contact the Social Services Director.

Volunteers

We have many varied volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups interested in volunteering on a one-time or ongoing basis. Some opportunities include: swimming, playing with children, reading bedtime stories, assessing with birthday parties, and helping with arts and crafts. Anyone interested in volunteering, please contact the Recreation Activities Coordinator.

St. Edmond's Home is always in need of therapeutic equipment, adapted toys and various recreational items that enhance the quality of life for our children.

PA Turnpike - from New Jersey and Northeast

Take I-276 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) West (toward Harrisburg) to interchange 25A for I-476 (Chester and I-95). Follow I-476 to exit 5 (US Rte 30). Proceed East on US Rte 30 (Lancaster Ave) for 1.8 miles to County Line Rd. Make a right on County Line Rd - there is a sign on the right at the intersection for Bryn Mawr Hospital. Make the fourth right onto Roberts Rd. Proceed 0.5 mile to St. Edmond's Home; driveway is on the right.

PA Turnpike - from Harrisburg

Take I-276 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) East (toward New Jersey) to interchange 24 (Valley Forge). Take I-76 East to I-476 South (Chester). Follow I-476 to next exit (exit 5 - US Rte 30). Proceed East on US Rte 30 (Lancaster Ave) for 1.8 miles to County Line Rd. Make a right on County Line Rd - there is a sign on the right at the intersection for Bryn Mawr Hospital. Make the fourth right onto Roberts Rd. Proceed 0.5 mile to St. Edmond's Home; driveway is on the right.

From Interstate 95 - Northbound or Southbound

Take I-95 to I-476 North (Plymouth Meeting). Follow I-476 North to exit 4 (Newtown Square / Broomall). Make left at exit toward Newtown Square onto West PA Rte 3 (West Chester Pike). Follow PA Rte 3 (West Chester Pike) to PA Rte 320 North (Sproul Road). Make right onto PA Rte 320 North (Sproul Road). Proceed North on PA Rte 320 approximately 3 miles to Bryn Mawr Ave. Make right on Bryn Mawr Ave. Proceed on Bryn Mawr Avenue. Immediately after I-476 underpass, make left on Ithan Ave. Proceed on Ithan Avenue to first stop sign. Make Right onto Roberts Road. Proceed one mile. The entrance driveway for St. Edmond's Home is on the left.

From Center City Philadelphia

Take I-676 West to I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) West (Valley Forge). Take I-76 West to the US Route 1 South (City Ave) Exit. (exit is from the left lane). Proceed on US Route 1 South (City Ave) 3.7 miles to Haverford Rd. Make a right on Haverford Rd. Proceed west on Haverford Rd approximately 5 miles - 13 traffic lights - to Conestoga Road. Yang Ming Restaurant is on the corner. Bear left on Conestoga Road and make first left onto Roberts Rd. Proceed 0.5 mile to St. Edmond's Home; driveway is on the right.

West Chester

PA Route 3 East (West Chester Pike) through Newtown Square. After you pass PA Rte 252, make left at third traffic light onto Bryn Mawr Ave. Proceed 2.8 miles, immediately after first underpass (I-476 bridge), make left on Ithan Ave. Proceed on Ithan Avenue to first stop sign. Make Right onto Roberts Road. Proceed one mile. The entrance driveway for St. Edmond's Home is on the left.
